To Contain
2024
Definitions from Oxford Languages:
Contain
Have or hold (someone or something) within.
Be made up of (a number of things); consist of.
Control or restrain (oneself or a feeling).
Prevent (a severe problem) from increasing in extent or intensity.
Latin origin: continere, to hold altogether.
I got this cover a couple of weeks ago, and it saved the strawberries from the slugs. Before the covers were put back on, the kids had a strawberry each.
Today, I had an appointment with a psychiatrist. We discussed my worsening symptoms for the third time postpartum. I likely wasn’t diagnosed until now because I learnt to contain my symptoms. I can no longer contain what is within.
To contain keeps looping in my head. I can’t stop thinking of the image of the strawberries contained in the mesh cover, contained and protected.
